Meet Dr. Ry Bohrnstedt

Our Dermatologist

Dr. Bohrnstedt is a 2009 graduate of West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing a traditional rotating internship at Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine/Lewis Gale Hospital at Montgomery, Dr. Bohrnstedt completed his residency in dermatology. He served as Chief Resident during his Dermatology Residency Program at Lewis Gale. He continued to serve his community there in Blacksburg by providing patient care and teaching dermatology residents in training.

Dr. Bohrnstedt is passionate about caring for patients with long term, visible skin conditions that cause physical and emotional stress. He specializes in diagnosing and treating skin cancers. He is passionate about early recognition and recommends getting regular preventative skin checks. He also enjoys diagnosing and treating skin cancers before they become a bigger problem for patients. Dr. Bohrnstedt’s special interest in dermatology include:

Outside the office, Dr. Bohrnstedt enjoys going to church, spending time with family and friends, watching his children play sports and helping to coach their teams. If there is any extra time left over, you can probably find him fishing, kayaking, or working on a woodworking project.

NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant

Katy Herbert is an NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant. She grew up in Forest, Virginia and completed her undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech in Human Nutrition, Foods & Exercise. She earned her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Lynchburg. She is currently completing the Doctorate of Medical Science degree from the University of Lynchburg while working at Seven Hills Dermatology. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

Katy has experience in general and cosmetic dermatology and is passionate about helping patients with acute and chronic skin conditions. Katy is very excited to be practicing in her hometown and looks forward to increasing access to dermatologic care in the area.

Outside of work, Katy enjoys spending times with friends and family, practicing yoga, hiking, and playing with her dog, Sadie.

NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant

Riley Maddox is a NCCPA certified Physician Assistant. She grew up in Rustburg, Virginia, and then earned her undergraduate degree from James Madison University in Health Sciences with minors in Pre-Physician Assistant studies and Substance Use Education. She earned her Master’s of Physician Assistant degree at the University of Lynchburg. She will earn her Doctorate of Medical Science degree from the University of Lynchburg in May 2026 while working here at Seven Hills Dermatology. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

Riley has a passion for helping people manage skin conditions and detecting skin cancers. She is very excited to be working in Lynchburg and taking care of the patients in this area. She has experience with general dermatology as well as cosmetic dermatology and is looking forward to treating patients with multiple dermatologic conditions.

Outside of work Riley enjoys spending time with her family, reading, going to the gym, and hanging out at Smith Mountain Lake.
